Revise: Photosynthetic ReactionIn this reaction, carbon dioxide and water are used to make glucose, and oxygen is produced. Glucose is a sugar: it provides material from which plants can make other substances, and it can be used in respiration to transfer energy for cellular processes. Because plants make their own food, they are called producers in food chains.
