Peat-free compost

Using peat-free compost is another way to reduce damage through our choice of materials. Peatlands provide habitats and store carbon as peat. Extracting peat for garden compost damages these habitats; peatland destruction can also release stored carbon into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide.
