A tissue consisting of plasma with red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets suspended in it.

Revise: BloodBlood carries useful substances to cells and removes waste substances. It also helps defend the body against infection and prevents excessive blood loss after an injury. These different jobs are shared between its components.
Link each adaptation to its function: for example, no nucleus leaves more room for haemoglobin, so a red blood cell can carry more oxygen.
Identify blood components using visible features such as a nucleus, cell size and shape—not colour alone, because photographs may use stains.
Platelets are cell fragments, not complete cells. They help blood clot rather than carry oxygen.
