Acquisition of manus through a wife living with her husband for one uninterrupted year.
Used by OCR
Paper 2
Revise: RomeUsus operated through time rather than a single ceremony. A woman who lived with a man as his wife for one uninterrupted year entered his manus. Their consent to live as husband and wife established the marriage; completing the year produced the additional legal relationship.
Distinguish the ways of acquiring manus—coemptio, confarreatio and usus—from the legal distinction between cum manu and sine manu.
