GCSE Classics · key term
Education concerned with reading, writing and other intellectual subjects, rather than only practical household skills.
Used by OCR
Paper 2
Revise: RomeDomestic education and academic education are not the same thing. Domestic education prepares someone for practical household responsibilities; academic education includes reading, writing and intellectual learning. These could overlap.
Do not use evidence about one educated woman to claim that all Roman girls received an academic education.
