The first woman in Greek mythology, created by the gods as Zeus’ punishment for mankind after Prometheus stole fire. Her name means ‘all gifts’.

Paper 2
Revise: GreecePandora and Helen are legendary figures, not straightforward records of historical women’s lives. Their presentation is therefore evidence to interpret, rather than a description of what all Greek women were like.
For Hesiod, write about Pandora’s jar, not a box. Curiosity and a prohibition on opening it belong to later versions, not the prescribed passage.
Distinguish what a writer states from your interpretation: Hesiod does not explain why Pandora opens the jar or why Epimetheus ignores the warning.
