Paper 3
Revise: Justice, Revenge and DeceitJustice asks whether responsibility has been judged fairly and whether the response is appropriate. The suitors’ abuse of hospitality, mistreatment of the household and denial of Telemachus’ honour give concrete grounds for punishment. Odysseus’ retaliation can therefore be understood as both revenge for injuries to his family and an attempt to restore rightful household authority.
