Used by OCR
Paper 1
Revise: RomeIts original location was on the Campus Martius, beside the Via Flaminia, a major route into and out of Rome. This gave travellers opportunities to see it. The Campus Martius was also associated with military gatherings and elections, so the setting connected the monument with both military and civic life.
Explain why a location mattered. For the Ara Pacis, connect the Via Flaminia with passing travellers, or the Campus Martius with military gatherings and elections.
