Supplementary Vote

The Supplementary Vote (SV) was used for directly elected mayors in England and Police and Crime Commissioners in England and Wales. The Elections Act 2022 legislated to replace it with First Past the Post for these offices, including the Mayor of London, and subsequent elections used FPTP. Parliament then legislated through the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act 2026 to bring SV back for mayoral and Police and Crime Commissioner elections.
