Paper 1
Revise: Role of Members of ParliamentA Member of Parliament (MP) is an elected representative in the House of Commons. Each MP represents a geographical area called a constituency. The UK has 650 constituencies, including South Devon and Manchester Central.
For an explanation question, link an MP’s action to its purpose: for example, proposing an amendment can correct a weakness in a bill.
Remember that MPs work both in Parliament and in their constituencies. Give specific activities rather than simply saying they ‘help people’.
