Do not describe every appeal as a complete retrial. An appeal may challenge a legal error, a conviction or a sentence.
When comparing systems, explain a similarity or difference in court functions or appeal arrangements, rather than just listing court names.
Do not describe the UK Supreme Court as the normal final appeal court for Scottish criminal cases: that role belongs to the High Court of Justiciary.
