Speaking up for oneself or others so that their needs, rights and views are heard.

Action intended to influence decisions, policies or public opinion on behalf of a cause or affected people.

NGOs also use advocacy to seek changes that practical aid alone cannot achieve. Oxfam and its partners campaigned for a ceasefire and humanitarian access in Gaza. The aim was to create conditions in which civilians could be safer and sufficient aid could reach them.
