Revise: Chromatography TechniquesThin layer chromatography, or TLC, follows the same overall procedure, but it uses a rigid or flexible plate coated with a thin layer of material such as silica or aluminium oxide rather than chromatography paper.
Distinguish the two techniques by their supporting material: chromatography paper for paper chromatography, but a thin coating such as silica on a backing for TLC.
