The corrosion of iron or steel when both oxygen from the air and water are present.
Revise: Corrosion and PreventionRusting is one example: it affects iron and steel. Iron rusts only when it has access to both oxygen in the air and water. The reddish-brown rust is not a protective covering; rusting can continue and weaken the object.
