The mass of one mole of a substance, measured in g mol⁻¹.
Revise: Moles and Particles CalculationsIts numerical value is the relative particle mass: for example, adding the relative atomic masses of Na (23) and Cl (35.5) gives a relative formula mass of 58.5, so the molar mass of NaCl is 58.5 g mol⁻¹. Different substances therefore have different masses per mole, even though every mole contains the same number of specified particles.
