Compliance

Following the law is called compliance. A business may need to pay for training, safety equipment or administrative work to comply. However, legislation can also benefit businesses: employees may be more motivated, customers may have greater confidence and costly accidents may be avoided.

Legal changes require compliance, while technology and economic changes often involve choices between competing responses. A successful response fits the business’s circumstances and balances immediate survival with its longer-term objectives.
