Revise: Plant Hormone UsesAuxins can also promote growth in tissue culture. Small pieces or cells from a chosen plant are placed in a nutrient-containing growth medium with suitable plant hormones, including auxins. They develop roots and shoots and can grow into new plants.
A plant-cloning method in which small groups of cells from a plant are grown to produce genetically identical new plants.
When asked for a use of tissue culture, link the ability to produce many identical plants to preserving a rare species or supplying plants commercially in nurseries.
Do not say tissue culture creates a new characteristic or that cultured animal cells grow into whole animals.

Revise: Tissue CultureTissue culture means taking a small sample of cells or tissue and growing it on a nutrient medium outside the organism. The medium supplies what the cells need to survive and divide. This can turn a tiny sample into many cells; with plant tissue, it can also produce many new plants.
