Link the term endothermic explicitly to energy transfer: photosynthesis takes in energy from its surroundings rather than releasing energy overall.
State the direction of energy transfer: cellular respiration is exothermic because it transfers energy to the surroundings.
If asked for evidence that a process is exothermic, describe a temperature rise in the surroundings rather than merely saying that the reaction becomes hotter.
