Revise: Treating CNS DamageThe skull surrounds the brain, while the vertebral column—the spine—surrounds the spinal cord. Bone forms a strong barrier, so diseased or damaged nervous tissue is difficult for surgeons to reach. An operation must pass through or around this protection while avoiding further damage to delicate healthy tissue.
