Revise: Treating CNS DamageRadiotherapy uses ionising radiation to destroy tumour cells. Although treatment is directed towards the tumour, radiation can also damage surrounding healthy nervous tissue. Doctors must therefore balance destroying as much tumour tissue as possible against the risk of harming functioning brain tissue.
