Specification 2.7 · Paper 1
Revise: Percentile ChartsA percentile chart, also called a centile chart, has age on the horizontal axis and a body measurement—such as mass, height or head circumference—on the vertical axis. Its curved percentile lines are constructed from measurements collected from many children at different ages.
State what a percentile means in context: for example, the 25th percentile means that about 25% of the reference group have a lower measurement at that age.
Do not describe a percentile as the percentage by which a child has grown.
The 50th percentile is the median, not a target that every child should reach.
