Revise: Enzyme Mechanism and MetabolismThe lock-and-key hypothesis is a model of enzyme specificity. The enzyme is represented by a lock and the substrate by the matching key. Just as the wrong key does not fit a lock, a substrate with the wrong shape does not bind successfully to an enzyme's active site.
