Insertional mutagenesis

If insertion disrupts an important gene, such as one involved in controlling cell division, it could contribute to cancer. This is called insertional mutagenesis. Other uncertainties include delivery to the wrong cells, too little or too much gene activity, temporary effects and unforeseen long-term side effects.
