Revise: Eukaryotes and ProkaryotesThe bacterium's main genetic material is a single, closed DNA loop in the cytoplasm, so it is not enclosed by a nuclear membrane. A bacterial cell may also contain one or more much smaller DNA rings called plasmids. Plasmids are additional to the main DNA loop and are not present in every bacterial cell.
