Revise: CancerA benign tumour remains contained in one area and does not invade surrounding tissues. A malignant tumour is cancerous: its cells can invade nearby tissues and may spread to other parts of the body, where further tumours can form. These distinctions help show why uncontrolled division can become harmful, but the central definition remains that cancer is caused by cell changes leading to uncontrolled cell division.
