Question 3: the comparison
Answering Section A
What you need to know
How Question 3 works: 20 marks, all for applying knowledge to compare the pair, on a focus the question sets, with three optional bullet prompts.
Questions set out as Eduqas sets them: the representation of gender, and of one character from each film.
Choosing points that can really be compared, giving both films equal weight, linking each context to its film, and using film terms; why writing about only one film halves the mark.
A plan and a model answer with the band and mark an examiner would give, and the commonest mistakes.
Timing: about 24 minutes, the largest share of Section A.
Worked answers with their marks, and practice questions to try, each headed 'Practice question' with its marks.
Quote only short lines of dialogue you're sure of, a few words at a time, and base every point on what happens in the finished film.
