Paper 2 Questions 1, 2, 4 and 5: finding information
Paper 2 reading questions
What you need to know
The four short AO1 questions: Questions 1 and 2 (2 marks each) on Text 1, and Questions 4 and 5 (1 mark each) on Text 2, each asking for information from given lines or a reprinted section.
Answering from the right text and the right lines, briefly, in your own words or short quotations.
The worked example uses two linked texts about arriving at a workhouse casual ward for a night's shelter, both printed in the lesson: Text 1 from George Orwell's memoir 'Down and Out in Paris and London' (1933) and Text 2 from Jack London's 'The People of the Abyss' (1903).
Answers that would and would not earn the marks, and why.
