Current, Resistance and Potential Difference Relationship
What you need to know
Explain how the current through a component depends on its resistance and the potential difference across it.
Understand that for a given potential difference, a higher resistance results in a lower current.
Calculate current, potential difference, or resistance using the relevant equation:
V=IR
Design and set up appropriate circuits to investigate the factors affecting the resistance of electrical circuits, including the length of a wire at a constant temperature and combinations of resistors in series and parallel.
Understand the interchangeable use of the terms 'potential difference' and 'voltage'.
