Revise: Initial planningExisting secondary data may be suitable if they contain the measurements and groups needed. The method should follow from the question, rather than being chosen simply because it is familiar.

When evaluating secondary data, check relevance as well as reliability. Accurate data about the wrong population or time period may still be unsuitable.
Primary data is not automatically accurate, and secondary data is not automatically unreliable. Judge the collection method and the suitability of the data.
Identify the original provider of secondary data, rather than giving only a vague reference such as 'the internet'.
