Reproduction of labour

Childcare and upbringing help children grow into adults who can enter employment. This is the reproduction of labour: maintaining workers now and bringing up the workforce of the future. Zaretsky therefore treats domestic work as economically important, even though it is often regarded as merely a private responsibility.
