GCSE Religious Studies · key term
An urge or pressure to do something wrong or turn away from God.
Used by AQA
Paper 2
Revise: Jesus' Baptism and TemptationMark 1:9–13 introduces Jesus through his baptism and temptation, rather than through an account of his birth or childhood. These events prepare him for his public ministry: his work of teaching, healing and serving others. Together, they reveal both his special relationship with God and his experience of human testing.
Keep to Mark’s account: it does not describe three specific temptations or the dialogue found in Matthew and Luke.
Distinguish temptation from sin: Christians believe Jesus experienced temptation without giving in to it.
