A name used for an Ismaili Shi’a tradition that recognises Ismail in the succession of Imams, rather than Musa. It does not mean that all such Muslims recognise only seven Imams in total.

Revise: The Five Roots of Usul ad-DinSevener, or Ismaili, traditions follow a different succession. The division arose from disagreement about who should succeed the sixth Imam: Ismaili traditions recognise Ismail, whereas Twelvers recognise Musa as the seventh Imam. ‘Sevener’ does not mean that these communities necessarily believe there have only been seven Imams in total.

Do not say that Seveners believe there have only ever been seven Imams. Explain the disagreement over succession after the sixth Imam.
Do not assume ‘Sevener’ means that all Ismailis believe leadership ended after seven Imams. Explain their different line of succession.

Twelver and Sevener traditions share the central importance of Allah, revelation, guidance and accountability. Their important difference concerns which line of Imams has divine authority.
