Secular Buddhism

Secular Buddhism emphasises responding to suffering in this life without requiring belief in rebirth. Stephen Batchelor, a former Buddhist monk and writer, describes his approach as a ‘logic of care’: recognising particular instances of suffering, loosening habitual greed and hatred, and responding wisely. He is agnostic about what happens after death and considers personal rebirth very unlikely.
