Paper 2
Revise: Call of the First DisciplesThe nets, boat and father make sacrifice visible. Following Jesus involves commitment, not merely admiring him. The fishermen accept a new direction for their lives and become part of a community of followers.
Giving up something valued, such as possessions, opportunities or personal comfort, for a greater purpose.
When asked what Christians can learn, connect a detail of the story to its significance. For example, leaving their nets shows that following Jesus can require sacrifice.
Link an incident to its significance: the disciples left their work, showing that following Jesus can require sacrifice. Retelling the event alone does not explain its importance.
