Pharisee

The scribes of the Pharisees object and ask Jesus’ disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” Scribes were experts in religious law, and Pharisees were concerned with faithful observance of that law. These critics believed that association with people they regarded as sinful crossed important religious boundaries.
