Other Power

The emphasis is on Other Power: reliance on Amitabha's compassion and vows rather than on one's own spiritual achievement alone. This can make the path accessible to people whose work, family responsibilities or circumstances make intensive monastic practice difficult. Trust and devotion still involve sincere practice; they do not make compassion or ethical living irrelevant.
