Revise: The Prophet NuhNuh, known in English as Noah, is important in Islam as one of Allah’s first messengers. A messenger communicates Allah’s guidance to people. Nuh’s task was to call his people away from worshipping other gods and towards Tawhid, belief in the oneness of Allah.
In an explanation, connect the event to its significance: Nuh continued preaching despite rejection, so his conduct can encourage Muslims to persevere through difficulties.
When evaluating Nuh’s example, weigh his limited success in gaining followers against his faithfulness to Allah. Explain which is the better measure of his success.
Distinguish an evaluative criticism from a Qur’anic teaching: someone might describe Nuh’s mission as unsuccessful, but Surah 71:25 attributes the people’s destruction to their sins.
