Mystic

St Teresa of Ávila, a Christian mystic, experienced deep mystical prayer which she understood as union with God. Her experience brought an overwhelming awareness of God's presence and love. For Teresa, this was more than learning a statement about God: she believed she knew God's love through personal experience.
