Used by AQA and Eduqas
Paper 1
Revise: Life After DeathFollowing the mitzvot, God’s commandments, and acting with justice and compassion matter in themselves, while also preparing a person for the world to come. Belief in an afterlife can therefore give hope and purpose without making this life unimportant.
Commandments governing Jewish religious life; the singular is mitzvah.
Paper 3
Commandments that guide Jewish conduct and religious practice.
Revise: The Tenakh and Talmud in Daily LifeThe Torah consists of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. It tells of creation and the early history of the Jewish people through to Moses, and contains the mitzvot, or commandments, including the Ten Commandments. Many Jews believe it is God’s revealed teaching; Orthodox Jews traditionally believe God gave the Torah to Moses.
Commandments within Judaism, understood by observant Jews as obligations given by God.
When explaining an influence, connect the belief to an action: belief in divine judgement can encourage someone to follow the mitzvot.
