Revise: Role of the MessiahThe word Messiah comes from the Hebrew Mashiach, meaning ‘anointed one’. Anointing means applying oil to someone as a sign that they have been chosen for a special role. In the Tenakh, the Jewish scriptures, the term was used for kings of Israel.
