Leprosy

In Mark 1:40–45, Jesus meets a man with leprosy. In biblical usage, ‘leprosy’ covered various skin diseases, rather than only the disease known by that name today. Under Jewish religious law, someone with such a condition could be declared ritually unclean and separated from the community.
