Revise: Healing MiraclesThe healing of Legion shows authority over evil spirits. The raising of Jairus’ daughter shows authority even over death. Together, these accounts present Jesus as someone whose power goes beyond that of an ordinary teacher.
Legion means ‘many’; it is the name given by the spirits, not a count of how many spirits there were.
Do not assume that witnessing a miracle automatically produces faith: the local people in the Legion account ask Jesus to leave.
