GCSE Religious Studies · key term
The belief that God assesses people’s conduct and holds them accountable for their actions.
Used by AQA and Eduqas
Paper 1
Revise: Nature of GodGod is understood as the Creator of everything, the giver of commandments and the Judge of human behaviour. These are different roles of the same God, not separate gods or separate parts of God.
Paper 3
God as the one who assesses human conduct and holds people accountable for their actions.
Revise: The Nature of GodCreator, Law-Giver and Judge describe the same God, not different divine beings. God is understood as non-physical, so these descriptions explain God's relationship with the world rather than God's appearance.
Keep God’s roles distinct: giving commandments is the role of Law-Giver; assessing people’s actions is the role of Judge.
Distinguish Law-Giver from Judge: God gives the commandments and judges how people respond to them.
