A justified conclusion is therefore that teachings about shirk can restrict shared worship and theological agreement, but do not necessarily prevent good interfaith relations. Their effect depends partly on how Muslims understand and express their beliefs: religious conviction can accompany either confrontation or respectful cooperation.
