The fish, often called the Ichthus, is usually drawn as two curved lines meeting to form a pointed head and crossing at the tail. The Greek word for fish was used as an acronym: its letters stand for words meaning ‘Jesus Christ, God’s Son, Saviour’. A small image therefore expresses several central beliefs about who Jesus is.
