Revise: Symbolism and ImageryIn Christian art, a cross is more than two intersecting lines: it recalls Jesus’ death and communicates beliefs about salvation. Imagery is the use of visual representations to communicate ideas, including these symbolic designs.
For Ephesians 2:10–19, connect the cross with reconciliation: Jews and Gentiles are brought together and reconciled to God.
Distinguish an empty cross from a crucifix, but remember that both express belief in Jesus’ saving work.
