Bhikkhu

A fully ordained monk is a bhikkhu; a fully ordained nun is a bhikkhuni. Both belong to the monastic sangha and leave ordinary household life to devote themselves to Buddhist practice. Their roles include studying and practising Buddhist teachings, meditation, observing monastic discipline and offering spiritual guidance.
