Revise: Environmental Responsibility and Global CitizenshipBal tashchit means ‘do not destroy’. Its scriptural starting point is Deuteronomy 20:19–20, which prohibits destroying fruit-bearing trees when besieging a city. Even during war, a useful source of food should not be needlessly destroyed.
Connect a teaching to an environmental action and explain why it supports that action; naming bal tashchit alone is not an explanation.
