Revise: Non-Verbal CommunicationVerbal communication means sending and receiving messages using words. It includes speaking, writing a text message and using sign language. Although signing involves movements rather than speech, it communicates words and therefore counts as verbal communication here.
Distinguish verbal and non-verbal communication by the use of words, not by whether someone makes a sound. Written words and sign language count as verbal communication.
