Definition

A group in which people with similar problems share experiences and provide mutual support as peers.

Self-help groups bring together people with similar problems who support one another as peers. Examples include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous. These are separate organisations, not branches within AA.
